Where am I? News APGA -UK CHAPTER CONDEMNS ABIA STATE GOVERNOR’S ACTION
APGA -UK CHAPTER CONDEMNS ABIA STATE GOVERNOR’S ACTION E-mail

Members of All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) living in Europe have condemned the sacking of non- indigenes civil servants in Abia State by Governor Theodore Ahamefule Orji, saying that it was a mockery of the unity of South East zones of the Igbo community.

According to Sir Onyeka Mbaso, the General Secretary of APGA Europe-UK Chapter, “Whilst Ohanaeze Ndigbo and other notable Igbo organizations are busy preaching for the unity of the Igbos and one Nigeria, some politicians with outdated policies from Abia State are busy drafting obsolete policy that will bring untold hardship among brothers and sisters.”

Sir Mbaso says the avalanche of problems for future generations this will cause cannot be quantified.

“The Governor should see the mistakes of his decision and correct it now.’’

Mbaso said Igbos should not allow Governor Theodore Orji’s policy to destabilize the unity of Ndigbo. There is no moral justification in sacking non indigenes of Abia State from the civil service.

The General Secretary believes it is not a question of Governor Theodore Orji doing a rethink on the matter but a matter of President Dr Jonathan Goodluck intervening quickly.

The policy, he says is undemocratic and old fashioned in today’s contemporary politics. He advised Ohanaeze Ndigbo, South East Governors, and other Stakeholders to advise Governor Theodore Orji. to revise the decision.

The APGA Europe-UK Chapter is advising South East Governors not to follow this ugly example of Governor Theodore Orji’s policy in retaliation but should focus on developing their States and improving the lives of the citizens.

The group according to Mbano further condemned the support the Abia State government received from Mrs. Victoria Aguiyi Ironsi on the sacking of non indigenes civil servants.

It is very unfortunate that this support is coming from the wife of the former Head of State, he said.

“If Major General Aguiyi Ironsi is alive today, he would however oppose this dangerous policy. What we need now is unity and not redundancy. The cause of our problem is not redundancy but corruption, mismanagement of public funds and lack of strategic planning. The laying of blame on minimum wage is like chasing the wind.’’

Speaking on the matter, the APGA Europe-UK Chapter Vice Chairman Mr Ernest Ezeajughi pointed out that the Governors policy was a way of distracting the indigenes of Abia State from the pressing issues of democracy, fairness, equity, efficiency, security and lack of performance affecting the entire state.
