| DON'T VOTE FOR INSULTING POLITICIANS - PRESBY MODERATOR |

He is, therefore, urging Ghanaians not to vote for such politicians since they have nothing useful to offer the nation. “When you see politicians insulting their opponents, such people are not men of integrity. They have nothing to offer and should therefore not be given the chance to lead the country,” Right Reverend Professor Emmanuel Martey said in a sermon in Sunyani. Rev. Martey gave the sermon during the induction of Rev. Kwadwo Owusu Sarpong as the Brong Ahafo Presbytery Chairperson of the church at the Ebenezer Presbyterian Chapel in Sunyani. Rev. Sarpong, who holds a Master of Philosophy from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology and a Master’s in Religion, was elected as the chairperson in June this year and would serve in that capacity for the next five years. The moderator said it was unfortunate that some politicians mounted political platforms only to insult their opponents and advised such people not to mount platforms if they had nothing to say. He added that Ghanaians were tired of such politicians who continued to divide the society and muddy the already polluted atmosphere with their abusive utterances. Rev. Martey also expressed worry about the use of the Internet as a medium to wreck the reputation of people who had toiled to build up their reputations and urged Internet providers not to use their mediums for such character assassination. He advised the new Presbytery Chairperson to brace himself for the challenges associated with his new status since there was the tendency for people to hate those who were truthful. “Even in the church, people hate those who always insist that the right thing should be done,” he said, explaining that any church leader who speaks against social vices was likely to face challenges.
