Where am I? News IRAN AND SUDAN UNITE AGAINST WESTERN POWERS
IRAN AND SUDAN UNITE AGAINST WESTERN POWERS E-mail

Iran PresidentIran's President, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, says western powers are plotting against muslim nations. According to the official Iranian news agency, he accused unnamed colonial powers and Israel of initiating separatist movements to split up Islamic states, including Sudan.

The Iranian leader was speaking after meeting Sudanese president Omar al-Bashir in Khartoum.

Ahmadinejad says that Iran and Sudan are standing together as defenders of the Islamic world.

He claims that both countries are resisting pressure from the colonialists, whom he accused of targeting independent states, because  "they don't want them to be strong."

In response, Bashir reiterated Sudan's support for Iran's nuclear programme "for peaceful purposes."

The Iranian leader headed a delegation of advisers and officials, including the
ministers of energy and higher education.

But there was no indication that any agreements were signed yesterday.

Iran and Sudan are both facing US sanctions because of their alleged sponsorship of terrorism.
