Where am I? News CAMERON'S LIBYA STATEMENT IS HYPOCRITICAL- MI5 CHIEF OPERATIVE
CAMERON'S LIBYA STATEMENT IS HYPOCRITICAL- MI5 CHIEF OPERATIVE E-mail

Annie MachonA former MI5 Chief Intelligence Officer, Annie Machon has described Prime Minister David Cameron’s statement that the uprising in Libya was entirely an internal affair by freedom fighters to put up a democratic government as ‘disingenuous and hypocritical’.

“It was incredibly disingenuous and hypocritical, David said it was totally a Libyan affair, but I think that is rich because as soon as there was a hint that this group might try to topple Gaddafi ,this idea should have come to him like a shock” she said.

Annie Machon said if indeed it was an internal affair of rebels trying to put up a democratic principle in Libya, there would not have been any chance for the rebels if they had let Libyans deal with the situation their own way ,”there is no way that the insurgents could have taken over Libya” she said.

The former Intelligence Officer was speaking in an interview by Voice of Africa Radio yesterday on David Cameron’s statement on Libya to the House of Commons in which the Prime Minister said that Britain played no role in the insurgency but only went in  to protect innocent civilians.

Machon said the Prime Minister’s initial idea of protecting civilians was a lie, “because we have seen both sides injuring civilians and NATO bombing innocent civilians” She noted.

Annie Machon said she left the secret service with her ex partner to become a whistle blower and noted that MI6 funded rebels in Libya to start the insurgency and also to assassinate Col. Gaddafi at all cost.

“There is a history of MI6 and British spies trying to Kill Col. Gaddafi, that is why my self and partner left the MI5 to blow the whistle” she said.

According to Machon, there was a failed assassination attempt in 1996 where MI6 funded the Libyan Islamic fighting group which was affiliated to Al Qaeda to try and assassinate Gaddafi, ”that operation was illegal and it went wrong obviously, Gaddafi survived and innocent people died in the attack,” she said.

“I have been watching recent development in Libya with interest because we have seen special forces, the MI6, CIA giving support for the rebels in Benghazi which is seen as double dealing because what they are doing in the last few months is openly supporting groups they have supported in the 1990s” she added.

Machon however, confirmed that Libya was responsible for the Lockerbie bombing. “because her Ex-partner was the head of the Libyan section at the time which was convinced that the Lockerbie suspects were the right suspects” she said.

“MI5 saw it a duty to fund this group which approached them to attack Gaddafi and hand over the Lockerbie suspect as a kind of “tit for tat “she added.Lbyan Rebels

The relationship between the UK government and Libya, Machon said has been incredibly close “but Gaddafi has always been a ‘priority target’ for the west for

decades which shocked Gaddafi when he realised that Britain was at the full front to topple him by funding the reels in Benghazi ”she said.

Asked if Libya was attacked solely to gain access to the country’s oil, the former intelligence officer said several factors were responsible for the attack chiefly

motivated by Col Gaddafi’s insistence that gold based currency should be used in the petroleum trade as against the ‘petrol dollar’.

“Between last year and this year, Gaddafi began to call for a gold-based currency which of course could have threatened the gallery of the petrol dollar.

He started to not accepting dollars for oil and insisted on gold-based currency or euro which impacted severely on the American dollar, I think it was not so much

about oil but the fact that he threatened the American currency by trying to encourage more African leaders to his gold currency”

One of the things that is not reported Machon noted is that” even though Gaddafi has been oppressive dictator he spread the wealth of the country around Libyans” She concluded.

is good mis Anne had blown the whistle ,but for how long does she expect the dictator to rule Libya.talk of the dictator spreading the wealth of the country around Libyans is not a fair assessment, bcos there are still lots of pple living in poverty and been intimidated and oppressed by the dictator, hence the need for a regime change was far overdue.he was only spreading the wealth among his family, who were living in luxury.
