The Convention Peoples Party will go to congress exactly a week from today to elect its national officers. The party’s congress committee settled on September 9 for the extra ordinary national delegates’ congress. More than two thousand delegates are expected to attend the congress, scheduled to be held at the Trade Fair Center in Accra.
Wing Commander (rtd) Patrick Sogbojor, who chairs the committee, said the party’s National Executive Council will meet in the evening and voting will commence in the morning of the next day.
He said it is after national executive have been elected that a date will then be set for the flag-bearership election.
There have been criticisms of the party’s leadership for several postponements of the congress.
The event was initially fixed for January and later postponed to June.
Wing Commander (rtd) Patrick Sogbojor dismissed suggestions the congress may be postponed again.
