Where am I? News Jamaican High Commissioner ‘Rubbishes’ Starkey’s Racist Comment
Jamaican High Commissioner ‘Rubbishes’ Starkey’s Racist Comment E-mail

Anthony JohnsonThe Jamaican High Commissioner in the UK, His Excellency Anthony Johnson has branded Historian David Starkey’s comments on Newsnight yesterday as ‘foolishness’ which should not be given any credence at all. “ It was a’ foolish’ talk by one man out of the over 17 million people in the UK which does not deserve publicity”,he maintained.

Mr Starkey has said that "whites have become black" after four days of rioting across England, adding that "a particular sort of violent, destructive, nihilistic, gangster culture has become the fashion".

His Excellency Anthony Johnson made this remark in the studio of Voice of Africa Radio when he was hosted on People’s Parliament, a live programme by the radio station today .Asked about his views on the issue, he said ‘it was not worthy of his comment.'

The High Commissioner stressed the need for Africans, and Jamaicans in particular to venture into big time business, which seems to have been neglected by them, to offer employment to their own people.

He emphasised it was time for Africans to become employers rather  than to work for others all the time. "You must have it in your mind to be in the big business like any other and believe in yourselves to make it happen”,he added.

He praised the existing relationship between Jamaicans and other Africans in the country and urged them to have confidence in themselves and make education a priority for their children in order to occupy high positions in society.

Mr Johnson decried the situation where ‘bright minds’ are destroyed by narcotic drugs and called on African communities to step up the campaign against drugs.

Jamaicans, he said are famous and well accepted worldwide due to their excellence in music and athletics and encouraged  them to keep it up.

He lauded the church as a good standpoint to raise children as they are taught good moral lessons as early as the Sunday school, where they are trained in the Ten Commandments to love good and hate evil, and encouraged parents to bring up their children in the church.

Brother Anthony Johnson is dynamically uplifting, because not only he put that racist low-life David Starkey in his place, but he is absoultely right that Europeans are always in-personating our culture, because they think it is idenitify within themselves.

Brother Johnson is also right that Africans whether they are from the Caribbean and our continent too; have potentials to accomplish themselves and they should continue in-doing so.

I totally agree with the comment about Africans and Carribeans creating more businesses and in addition, we also need to start supporting our business. Buying from each other and putting back into the community which will also aid further growth.

I agree with The Jamaican High Commissioner when he states the way forward is for Africans and Caribbeans to create their own business.

We must free ourselves from this dependency culture and through education and training gain full autonomy to create self-employment and become employers, thus carving our own destinies.
