I hold a work permit but wish to take up employment at another company as the salary is better. Would I be able to work with another employer with my current work permit?

Answer:

If you change employment, you will have to switch your permit to the new company as work permits are not transferable and are issued to a specific employee with a specific employer. If you do wish to change your new British based employer will have to make an application at the UK Home Office for a work permit on your behalf. Although if the job you are going to do is the same as your existing job, your new employer should not need to carry out a new resident labour test. Moreover you will have to wait until the work permit application has been granted before you can begin working for the new employer
