GHANA PROFESSIONAL AWARDS (GPA) 2004.

On Saturday, 3rd of July, 2004 Ghanaians from all walks of life trooped to the New Connaught room, at the Covent Gardens for the 4th Ghana professional awards ceremony.

Among the dignitaries were two visiting Ghanaian Ministers of State, Minister of Interior and Deputy Minister of Finance, Mr Hackman Owusu-Agyeman and Dr. Ashong respectively.

Messrs, Isaac Osei, Ghana’s High Commissioner, Lee Jasper, the London mayor’s advisor on race, and Ray Sowah– manager of Retail banking at the Ghana International Bank, UK, were also present.

A total of 18 awards were presented ranging from Archaeology to Zoology. Which many people interviewed by Voice of Africa radio criticised some to the award categories to be unnecessary and that they should be scaled down to about ten.

Because of the many awards presented and the late start of the event from 7 to 9.30pm and too much talking from the MCs there was no time at all for music and dancing. Many people started leaving before the auctions could begin.

Well, we hope that the organisers of this prestigious award ceremony will improve upon the event next year.

In General it was a superb and colourful ceremony that gave credit to Ghanaian professionals, if you failed to attend this year, surely don’t miss it next year.

Below are some of the exciting photographs from the awards ceremony.
