Basildon Healing mission is a mission of missionaries who are reaching out to people in need. In Africa, India, Uganda or even in the UK, whereeve there is a need we have a mission.

We look to the ones who are quite often ignored and forgotten about. These are groups of people who are struggling to survive, who quite often are victims of situations which are out of there control. They did not ask to be in these situations but quite often through Famine, disease, corrupt governments, greed, tribal or territorial disputes they are cast aside and left to look after themselves.

Most people do not realise that the horror of Aids is not just the disease itself, but the stigma that surrounds it. Even local customs which pass the possessions of the deceased back to the family, ignoring the rights of the wife and child who are left behind, often casting them out of the house into the street. It is a social problem, where condoms are not used and the practise of extra marital affairs is still practised even in the face of this epidemic which is sweeping Africa.

Not just Aids but malaria and Hepatitis, and other infections caused through polluted and stagnant water are killing thousands every day. Hunger is also a major killer in these areas, with no money coming in they cannot buy any goods to survive. Even basic essentials that we take for granted they lack, the buildings often mud huts can be filled full of disease, and are quite often death traps. Many people do not realise in these countries there is no social security or health system in place.

We are also looking to open a world market to their goods. The market they are selling in is held low by the poverty that keeps prices down. We believe that if they could be sold on a global market then the money they would earn could be reinvested back into there business and encourage real growth amongst the community.

All this can only be possible through the involvement of local churches and pastors, who have caught the vision that we are sharing with them and know that sustained growth can only come from within. The reality is that they have all the work force they will ever need but by sharing skills amongst them they can strengthen small communities.

One of our other goals while we were in Kenya was reaching out to the poor by inviting them to a small meal at one of the local churches. In this way we were able to reach a whole community, after they had eaten, they would not go until we had spoken to them, we shared this with the other churches who are running similar projects in their local communities. We do not just want to give them a message and leave them but to give them hope in that we are also addressing their spiritual and physical needs. If it was possible and we could give each person a gift of £10 pounds to buy food, but after that food had gone they would be in the same position.

Our heart is to the orphans and the widows, we are involved in projects looking to support orphans which not only involves looking after their basic needs but through various ministries in Kenya is also looking to their upbringing and education. This is the next generation and we feel that we all have a duty of care to these people. These precious ones will one day be mothers and fathers raising children of their own so it is so important that we help them and prepare them with education and skills.

In the event of the G8 conference and live 8 let none of us forget that these are real people with real lives who may not have had the opportunities we have had in the west but they are looking to us. We believe that we can all make a difference so please come along side and support the work we are doing.

Please send donations to Basildon Healing Mission.

We are not just looking to today in Africa we are looking to the future, where each family will once again be able to look after there own. Because without hope the Africans will perish, but with a vision for the future they will grow.
